Bird and Bear
Winner of Best Animation in the 2024 Okanagan Student Film Festival, Bird and Bear are two pals who interact with the world in a similar fashion to a couple of freshly sentient pinecones exempt from the laws of physics. There is no one else here but the bugs, and bird and bear, and much as their demeanor suggests, they simply started being one day rather recently. In their short animation Bird and Bear are faced with several mundane tasks, and it is their job to navigate mere existence in these situations. Bird and Bear are unbothered by the hang-ups humans concern themselves with (such as the confines of possibility) as they discover the world and find their place and routine within it.
Proof of Concept
The original test animation in which the titular characters, Bird and Bear, originally appear. This is my first attempt at stop motion animation. It captures the intended style of the cute but slightly unsettling nature of childrens animations I would see late at night on TV in my childhood.
Bear
Hand made characters, crafted from wool bring life and style to the Bird and Bear animation. Each character model was made by hand using needle felting techniques to create their nostalgic odd-ball personalities.
